having much luck. The application, migrated away from JBoss, will run under
Tomcat 6 as a webapp. I have everything functioning except JMS.
So far I have done the following:
Copy the Web App whole from where it lived under JBoss's embedded Tomcat and
move it under a standalone Tomcat webapp directory. (Plus make necessary
changes for things to work, add JAR files previously pulled from JBoss but
obviously not including JBoss JMS JAR files.)
Copy activemq-all-5.1.0.jar plus geronimo-jms_1.1_spec-1.1.1.jar plus
geronimo-jta_1.0.1B_spec-1.0.1.jar plus
geronimo-j2ee-management_1.0_spec-1.0.jar plus commons logging into my web
applications WEB-INF/lib directory.
Create the following jndi.properties in my web apps WEB-INF/classes
directory:
java.naming.factory.initial =
org.apache.activemq.jndi.ActiveMQInitialContextFactory
java.naming.provider.url = vm://localhost
queue.MyRequest = Test.MyRequest
topic.MyMessage = Test.MyMessage
And I know this jndi.properties file is being found and parsed because if I
deliberately misname the queue or topic, I get a different and earlier
exception.
My goal is to run the JMS broker within my webapp, thus avoiding an
unnecessary extra process and service to manage. I am obviously missing
something, but so far in my searching I cannot find what else I need to
configure to get this to work. The application in question does not use
Spring or XBeans, so I would prefer to avoid these configuration methods.
Unfortunately, most examples either use the standalone broker or Spring or
XBeans.
I try to initialize JMS with the following class, instantiated via 'new
TestJMSSetup()' from my startup servlet, and I get the Exception mentioned
in the subject above. The code below is simplified from code that works
with JBoss JMS, at least as of JBoss 3.2.7. The simplified code and the
full code fail with the same exception at the same line --
qcf.createQueueConnection(USER_NAME,PASSWORD). Note that if I instead call
qcf.createQueueConnection() I get the exact same exception.
Can anyone help identify what is missing here? Or point me to a web page or
other documentation that spells out how to get an ActiveMQ broker fully
running within Tomcat, making use of the ActiveMQ JNDI for lookup?
Thanks!
Eddie

When trying to connect to an ORACLE user via TOAD (Quest Software) or any other means (Oracle Enterprise Manager) I simply get the error:
ORA-011033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
[in the spirit of StackOverflow I will answer this one myself - at least I'll relate how I resolved it in my case - please also relate your own such adventures..]

After some googling I found the advice to do the following:
Which still gave the error:
ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcratr1_lostwrt]
I then found the advice to do the following:

(to give back to SO folks)I had this problem today -- Unfortunately , I was not able to resolve 'starting my instance' by following the steps above . In short, after hours of looking around I was able to resolve it as follow.
Problem
Els gta 5 controls. Mar 06, 2017 hello there, i have tried every single key written everywhere about, how to open ELS box to control primary & secondary ( as you see in the pic) but nothing worked, anyone got suggestions?

I had a similar problem when I had installed the 12c database as per Oracle's tutorial . The instruction instructs reader to create a PLUGGABLE DATABASE (pdb).
The problem:
sqlplus hr/hr@pdborcl
would result in ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.The solution: [that worked for me]:
- Login as SYSDBA to the dabase:
sqlplus SYS/Oracle_1@pdborcl AS SYSDBA
- Alter database:
alter pluggable database pdborcl open read write;
- Login again:
sqlplus hr/hr@pdborcl

This error can also occur in the normal situation when a database is starting or stopping. Normally on startup you can wait until the startup completes, then connect as usual. If the error persists, the service (on a Windows box) may be started without the database being started. This may be due to startup issues, or because the service is not configured to automatically start the database. In this case you will have to connect as sysdba and physically start the database using the 'startup' command.

I used a combination of the answers from rohancragg, Mukul Goel, and NullSoulException from above. However I had an additional error:
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file string - see DBWR trace file
To which I found the answer here: http://nimishgarg.blogspot.com/2014/01/ora-01157-cannot-identifylock-data-file.html
Incase the above post gets deleted I am including the commands here as well.
Thanks everyone you saved my day!
Creation Club, as far as I can tell, does not. That feature needs to be added post-haste. Modern military weapons.

The issue can also be due to lack of hard drive space. The installation will succeed but on startup, oracle won't be able to create the required files and will fail with the same above error message.

I faced the same problem. I restarted the oracle service for that DB instance and the error is gone.

I hope this will help somebody, I solved the problem like this
There was a problem because the database was not open.Command startup opens the database.
This you can solve with command
alter database open
in some case with alter database open resetlogs

Hi,
I have used Velocity in my web application.
I am not using any 'velocity.properties' file as loading the file was
becoming a problem.
So to initialize VelocityEngine the code used is as follows:
VelocityEngine ve = new VelocityEngine();
ve.setProperty('resource.loader', 'webapp');
ve.setProperty('webapp.resource.loader.class','org.apache.velocity.tools
.view.servlet.WebappLoader');
ve.setProperty('webapp.resource.loader.path','/WEB-INF/templates/');
ve.setApplicationAttribute('javax.servlet.ServletContext',this.servlet.g
etServletContext());
ve.init();
While the web application works fine on my local host, but when it was
deployed on to the test application server, it gave the following error
Error Code 500
Message Failed to initialize an instance of
org.apache.velocity.runtime.log.Log4JLogChute with the current runtime
configuration.
Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to avoid this error?

Hello all. I'm getting the messages below at every boot. I usually get two or three each time all similar with the exception of the IDs changing. I've scoured the net but found nothing on this. Just curious if anyone else has seen these and if so how to get it resolved. They've been happening since day one of my Windows 10 Pro install. I've attempted a reinstall but get the same messages. I'm only getting this on my Dell Latitude E7270 unit. My Dell Inspiron 7559 does not throw these messages. Something to note is that this is a standalone laptop so not connected to a domain etc. Thanks for any info if anyone has any!
